Tell us about yourself; specifically, about your career, what recreational activities do you enjoy outside of work, any new hobbies that you’ve picked up during the pandemic?

I am currently a JD/MBA student at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. My background is in the stock market and real estate investing. Outside of work, I like to spend time with family and friends, exercise, read and watch sports.

With your experience working in commercial real estate, you have familiarity with property leasing and creating value at assets. Can you explain your decision to partner with Jamestown on a commercial real estate investment?

I chose to invest with Jamestown because of the firm’s history of value creation. Specifically, they have been successful at identifying undervalued assets and then adapting them to more modern, productive uses. Why do you invest in commercial real estate?

I believe commercial real estate is a solid asset class that can offer strong cash flow and appreciation over a long period of time.

What does proper asset allocation look like for you? How do you look at alternative investments as part of overall portfolio diversification? Is there an optimal target percentage?

My portfolio today consists of equities, ETFs and single-family rental properties. This year, I wanted to break into commercial real estate assets to diversify my portfolio. I am a long-term value investor. I am comfortable with holding a diverse mix of assets so long as each asset generates value over a long period of time.

How has the recent volatility in the public markets recalibrated your investment philosophy, if at all?

Recent volatility has reaffirmed my overall investment strategy. That it is ideal to acquire assets at reasonable prices and be prepared to hold onto them for a long period of time. Moreover, downturns may present buying opportunities.

What does financial fitness mean to you and are you planning your finances to adhere to any milestones?

To me building wealth comes down to three things: making money, saving money and investing money. So, financial fitness means excelling at each of these topic areas. I monitor these areas on a monthly basis by keeping track of cash flow, via excel spreadsheets, and evaluating investment opportunities.
